The EURES Network: Fair Labor Mobility in Europe
EURES promotes the right to free movement of workers under fair conditions. This means that European workers in the Netherlands enjoy the same working conditions as Dutch employees – and vice versa for Dutch people in other European countries.
Employers should take into account the specific position of international job seekers. Our core values are: sustainability, transparency, equality and non-discrimination.
Sustainability
Working in another country means leaving the familiar environment, often without knowledge of local laws or language. That is why the EURES network offers thorough information, advice and guidance, so that labor migrants make informed choices. We focus on sustainable placements of at least 6 months.

Transparency
In cross-border employment mediation, we encourage clear agreements between employer and employee:
- All agreements are laid down in an employment contract
- The agreement is available in English, preferably also in the language of the employee
- The employee receives the agreement before leaving for the country of employment
- After signing, no changes are made without mutual consent
- Employers provide clear information about complaints procedures
- With offered housing, quality, duration and price are in balance with salary and contract duration
The accommodation must meet the standard of the Stichting Normering Flexwonen or a comparable standard in the relevant country of employment. After deduction of housing costs, the employee retains sufficient funds for an independent existence, and the end of an employment contract does not automatically lead to termination of housing.
Equality and Non-Discrimination
These principles form the basis for good employment practices. This includes:
- Full compliance with all labor standards and legal requirements
- Respect for legislation on equal treatment and non-discrimination
- Compensation in accordance with national laws and regulations
- Careful handling of privacy-sensitive data
