Frequently Asked Questions

EURES (EURopean Employment Services) is a cooperation network that has been connecting labor markets in Europe since 1994. The network helps job seekers find work in other European countries and supports employers in recruiting staff from across Europe.

EURES is active in 31 countries: all 27 EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Together these countries form the European Economic Area (EEA) plus Switzerland.

Through the EURES portal you can search job vacancies. You can create a profile, upload your CV and use the matching function. You can also contact a EURES advisor for personal advice and support in your search.

EURES offers job seekers access to vacancies in 31 countries, personal advice from EURES advisors, information about living and working in other European countries, help with preparing your CV, career guidance and information about administrative procedures. EURES also organizes European job fairs and information days, both online and onsite.

As an employer you can post your vacancies through the EURES portal, search in a database of CVs, use the matching function and get advice from EURES advisors. You can also participate in European job fairs to meet candidates.

No, all EURES services are free for both job seekers and employers. This applies to access to vacancies and CVs, use of the matching function, and advice from EURES advisors. For employers, a fee applies when they use recruitment services from a member or partner.

You can find a EURES advisor through the search function “Find EURES advisors” on the EURES portal. You can also chat with EURES advisors through the chat function on the website or contact the national coordination office in your country.

As an EU citizen you only need a valid identity document or passport. For stays longer than three months, registration may be required. Depending on your profession, additional documents may be needed, such as recognition of professional qualifications or diplomas. A European Health Insurance Card is recommended.

EURES provides information about housing in different countries through the “Living and working conditions” section, but does not arrange housing. EURES advisors can point you to local services that can help with this.

EURES members offer the complete package of EURES services: sharing vacancies and CVs, general information and personal advice. EURES partners provide at least one of these services, for example specialized support for labor mobility or recognition of qualifications. Together they form the EURES network.
